• Outstanding Educator Award – This award was created to give recognition to an

                                                         educator who has done an exceptional job of

                                                         presenting con-ed classes.

       Holly Schippers – It was such an honor to be selected as Iowa Educator of the

          Affiliate #6        Year from a group of my peers that know how much love

                                      and work go into education.  I am so excited to represent

                                      nail professionals of 

Iowa in CBI and ICE and hope to see

                                      more of them come on board to help me elevate the

                                      standards of nail care in 

Iowa .

• Edna Troutman Award – Look Good….Feel Better – This award goes to the

                                           individual who has invested their time to get accredited

                                           to be qualified to volunteer in caring for cancer patients.

        Becky Brockmann – For those of you who knew and remember Edna Troutman,

              Affiliate # 16      you know how dedicated she was to her profession and

                                          those who experience cancer.  It takes special people to

                                           attend to these clients and I take it very seriously.  For

                                           that I am truly grateful and humbled to receive the

                                           Look Good..Feel Better Award.  It has a very special

                                           place in my heart.  Thank you.

• Carol Plunkett (Outstanding Affiliate Member) – This award goes to the affiliate

                                    member who has contributed the most to their affiliate.

        Elaine Houts – 

CBI, thank you so much for the Carol Plunkett award.  I was so

           Affiliate #5    surprised to receive this, it was unbelievable.  Thank you #5 for

                                 nominating me.  Again, THANK YOU.

• Community Leadership Award (Cosmetologist of the Year) – This award is not

                                 only for the member who is active in 

CBI on affiliate and state

                                  levels but is also involved in their community.

        Karen Buchholz – What a surprise!! I am honored to receive the Community

         Affiliate #16       leadership Award.  I am a believer in “doing” and “giving

                                    back” to the community, my church and to those who support

                                    me.  I am fortunate to have my husband, Les, who always

                                    encourages me to professionally attend whatever I want and

                                    stay involved in our church and community.  Thank you 

CBI.

• 50+ Years Appreciation Award (Tullis Award) – This award goes to a 50+ years

                                of cosmetology in 

Iowa and has made an outstanding contribution

                                to the Cosmetology Profession.

        Richard Sheriff – Joining 

CBI was the best decision I have ever made in my 50

          Affiliate #6         years of enjoying the profession.

• Mary Grobman Hennniges, Hall of Fame Award – This very special award is for

                                  the member who has dedicated their life to 

CBI in all aspects of

                                 our profession.  It is truly a LIFETIME ACHEIVEMENT AWARDS.

     Marsha Barta – I was so excited to receive the “Mary” award.  I remember Mary

       Affiliate #5    fondly. She was a very dedicated member and was an inspiration to

                             me when I first became a member back in the 60s and was an active

                             hairdresser.

• Rising Star Award – This award was created to acknowledge a new professional

                                        who has given his/her time to promote and support 

CBI.

• Affiliate President of the Year – The affiliate President is the cheerleader that

                                keeps things going and keeps the State President up to date on

• Celebrate Beauty in Iowa 2013 – Professional Competition Winner

Heather Mohr – It was so exciting and fun being a competitor in the professional

 Affiliate #16      “Mane Event” competitiion.  I was so happy to win 1^st place. I

                                 really encourage more professional stylists to enter the

                               competition next year.  Competing makes you a better stylist

                               and it’s great for your business too.  When people and clients

                               know you’ve participated in competition, it builds trust and

                               respect in your abilities.  I am so glad 

CBI has brought a

                               Professional competition to State convention.  I look forward

                               to it every year.

• ICE Design Team 2013 – “The Trifecta Collection” is the trend this team of 3 ICE

                                     members presented at “Celebrate in Beauty 2013” plus various other

                                     con-ed classes across the state.  The collection consisted of haircuts

                                     (Women & Men), haircolor,make-up and nails.

       Jean Boss #7 -  The Trifecta Collection for 2013 has been a great experience as a

                                  designer and teacher.  Promoting 

CBI, ICE and the Team has been

                                  such an honor.  Thank you ICE for having Melanie, Holly and

                                  myself as the Design Team.

     Melanie Brons #16 – Being a part of the design team is always hard work, but

                                  ultimately is a very fun and rewarding experience.  The most

                                  challenging part of this design team was coming up with the theme of

                                  where our ideas were coming from/going to.  Once we established the

                                  name of “Trifecta Collection”, things came together very nicely.  We

                                  would bounce ideas back and forth and come up with solutions and

                                   suggestions.  The rewards of being on the design team come when

                                   other stylists share with me how they have used the look we created

                              on a client, as well as the fun times and memories made with Jean and

                              Holly.  Thanks to both of you for all your help and hard work for the

                              betterment of 

CBI as well as the industry.

     Holly Schippers #6 -

 

Kimberly Setzer has been active in numerous areas of cosmetology for over 26 years.  Her experiences range from freelance makeup artistry to salon ownership to residing on the Iowa Board of Cosmetology.  In addition to her creative work in cosmetology, Kimberly has also made an impact on her community by contributing her time as the President of the Algona Area Chamber of Commerce’s Ambassador organization and held a position with Kossuth County Economic Development as a Communications Board Member.

Her passion for creative cosmetology came to her early on.  She earned her cosmetology degree in 1986 from IBA City College of Cosmetology and earned first place in the Kurl Kraze competition within her school’s competition in the Nails/Makeup Category.  Kimberly’s professional career in makeup artistry began in 1998 when she joined the Technical Artist Group at Sebastian International in California. Kimberly also was an educator for Mirabella Cosmetics for several years.  Kimberly found her talent in makeup artistry lent well into becoming an exceptional stylist of both hair and nails.  She founded her first business, Nails by Kim, while simultaneously renting booth space at Styles Salon.  Here she would build a substantial clientele while learning more about business operations of a salon.

Allure Salon opened for business in 2004, with Kimberly’s array of talents now including hair styling and coloring alongside nails and makeup artistry.  Her devotion to education and training led her to become appointed to the Iowa Board of Cosmetology Arts & Sciences in 2006 where she is currently Chairman of the Board .  Kimberly also has been an active part of Cosmetolotist and Barbers of Iowa and holds a Director postion on the board. This commitment to education did not deter her business or drive to excel, as Allure Salon was 1^st runner up in Nail Magazine’s “Salon of the Year” in 2006.

Kimberly continues to exceed her client’s expectations by continuously learning new techniques in both hair and makeup artistry.  As a member of the Iowa Cosmetologists Educators organization, Kimberly also provides educational opportunities to other makeup artists through educational events, thru private or group instruction.

In Kimberly's free time she likes to decorate, landscape and flower gardens.  Kimberly resides in Algona Iowa.

At the National Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology Annual Conference in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida August 27 - 29, 2011, Becky Brockmann, Region 2 Director on the National Executive Board, was unanimously elected as an Honorary Member.  Becky will be eligible to attend every future NIC function as an honored guest and has agreed to participate whenever needed or requested.  Becky completed her tenure on the Board during a banquet Monday evening with the privilege of being installation officer for the new incoming Board of Directors.

We are very proud of Becky and all her accomplishments, starting at her affiliate level to now National status.  Becky is a true professional and  inspiration to all.  Thank you Becky for all you do.  We really appreciate you.
